Dr Robert G. Marx, MD

Dr. Robert Marx is an esteemed Orthopedic Surgeon at HSS and a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, also serving as the Vice Chair of Orthopedic Surgery for faculty development at HSS. He specializes in knee and shoulder surgeries, focusing on ACL surgery, complex knee ligament reconstructions, and knee replacements. Recognized repeatedly as one of New York's "Best Doctors" by New York Magazine, Dr. Marx is the leading Orthopedic Surgeon for the UFC and The Juilliard School and serves as a Team Physician for the New York Rangers. Dr. Marx's educational journey began with a BSc from Université de Montréal, followed by medical school at McGill University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency and an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. His post-residency training included a two-year sports medicine fellowship at HSS, focusing on the knee and shoulder. An accomplished author, Dr. Marx has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and six books, with three specifically on ACL injury and surgery. He is a Senior Associate Editor for the HSS Journal. He is actively involved with ISAKOS, where he will serve as President from 2027 to 2029.
