Dr Michelle E. Kew, MD

Dr. Michelle Kew is a dedicated Assistant Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, specializing in sports medicine with a focus on knee and shoulder treatments. She also contributes as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Kew is well-versed in a variety of sports medicine conditions, offering both non-operative treatments and surgical options, including minimally invasive arthroscopic and open surgeries. She has a rich history of working with athletes of all levels, serving as a team physician for teams like the New York Giants, the New York Red Bulls, and the Fork Union Military Academy Blue Devils. Dr. Kew's academic path began at the University of Virginia, where she excelled in her Biology degree and engaged in orthopedic research and medical missions to Honduras. She graduated from medical school with honors and was recognized for her mentorship with a teaching award. Her postgraduate training included an internship and residency at the University of Virginia, where she was honored as both junior and chief resident of the year. During her residency, she became involved with the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, focusing on increasing diversity in orthopedics. Furthering her expertise, Dr. Kew completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at HSS, receiving the Warren Kadrmas Award for her exceptional commitment to the field. She was also chosen for the prestigious Herodicus Traveling Fellowship, gaining additional experience at the University of California-San Francisco and Mayo Clinic-Arizona. Currently, she contributes to the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's Enduring Education Committee. As a researcher, Dr. Kew actively reviews for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the HSS Journal. She's deeply involved in clinical research, with numerous publications and presentations to her name, showcasing her commitment to advancing the field of sports medicine.
